Regrets? I have a few…
But then again too few to mention!
Lovely words from Frank Sinatra!
Life is about opportunity and regret.
Having reflected on my life, and listened to others reflecting on theirs I am struck by one thing.
Most of the regrets relate to what we have left undone; missed opportunities
We seldom regret what we have done.
Why is that?
Because people cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches.. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!
When opportunity knocks you have to grab it with both hands.
Don’t wait until the time is right; the time will never be right.
Jump in. Sure you will make some mistakes, but learn from them. Adapt your strategy to prevent making them again.
Learn on the hoof.
Overcome your fear.
Go for it.
If nothing else you will feel alive and enjoy yourself.
Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of ‘I’m going to,’ ‘I plan on,’ and ‘Someday, when things are settled down a bit.
The future is not someplace we are going,
But one we are making.
The paths to it are not found but made.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
Here are two of my favourite sayings:
“Do not follow where the path may lead.
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
Ralph Emerson.
“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar
And seemingly secure to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting,
For in movement there is life, and in change there is power.”
Til next time
